Patrick McMillan - Kids Can Do Anything!

Jan 4th, 2009 | By Dene Brock | Category: In The Spotlight, Kids/Teens, Products/Services

This subject takes on a very personal meaning to me as I watch my own children go through trials in school and daycare. I look back to my own childhood for answers, only to discover that the many of the situations are the same, but that a new layer of stresses has been added atop of the old ones. The world is more complicated than ever and the challenges are numerous.

Thank goodness, as adults, we have an arsenal of books, DVD’s, coaches and programs to help us overcome our own obstacles and explore our true passions to live our lives to the fullest.
But what about our kids? How much would it benefit them to learn these important lessons at a young age and grow up with all of these tools in hand right away?

Patrick McMillan took these questions to heart as he taught his own two children the importance of living happy, fulfilled and productive lives. As his kids began to show an extraordinary amount of compassion, their teachers became curious about where these values originated. It only took a parent-teacher conference to find out, and someone suggested the need for a structured program for all students in these same principles.

Patrick’s own passion to teach his children how to not only survive, but thrive in this world eventually led to a full curriculum and pilot projects in two elementary schools in the Denver area. He now offers personal coaching to families as well as written guides for the children, parents and teachers.

His program entitled “An Exercise in Happiness” provides a tool for children to co-creatively explore their dreams and aspirations. In the process, kids develop habits identifying and dealing with their emotions as well as those of others.

I love his inspiring slogan regarding our children: “When you are with a child, S.M.I.L.E.

Support Them, Motivate Them, Inspire Them, Love Them, Educate Them

I invite you to visit Patrick’s website and blog to learn more about his offerings to organizations and individuals in the form of personalized training as well as written manuals that are available in printed or electronic formats.
